SUMMARY:
The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Professor or Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science and Agriculture : Alice Campus. (Please indicate the academic rank level you are applying for)

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements

• Doctoral degree in Computer Science or related discipline
• At least 10 years’ experience in higher education for Full Professor / 7 years’ experience for Associate Professor
• Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in Computer Science or related discipline
• Track record of research demonstrated through accredited national and international research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Full Professor / Associate Professor
• Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision
• Evidence of successful fundraising for research
• Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of academics.

• Specialisation in one or more of the following: Distributed and Parallel Computing, Advanced Java, Intelligent Systems, Human Computer Interaction, Distributed Web Computing, Machine Learning, and Internet Security
• Evidence of attracting and working with post-doctoral fellows
• Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of specialisation (e.g. NRF rating, international keynote addresses, etc.)
• Evidence of national and international collaboration
• Evidence of strong community engagement integrated with teaching, learning and research.

• Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation
• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Computer Science
• Supervise Honours, Masters and Doctoral students
• Meet research publication requirements for the appropriate academic rank
• Secure external research grants and establish research programmes
• Participate in community engagement integrated with research and/or teaching
• Contribute to academic leadership and mentorship of academic staff
• Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels
