The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the position a Professor/Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitative Sciences:

JOB DESCRIPTION:


Minimum requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy
  • Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
  • At least 7 years’ experience in higher education for a full Professor and 5 years for Associate Professor with extensive teaching, curriculum development and research experience in Speech- Language Pathology/Therapy
  • Track record of research publications commensurate with the academic rank level of a full Professor/ Associate Professor
  • Extensive successful postgraduate Masters and Doctoral supervision
Additional Requirements
  • Evidence of successful fundraising for research-related activities in the field of Speech- Language Pathology/Therapy
  • Evidence of academic leadership and/or mentoring emerging researchers
  • Evidence of attracting and working with post-doctoral fellows will be an added advantage
  • Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy.
  • Recognition as a leading scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g. NRF rating; international keynote/plenaries) will be an added advantage
Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programs
  • Develop postgraduate programs and supervise students
  • Undertake publishable academic research
  • Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
  • Perform academic leadership and related administrative duties
  • Secure external research grants and establish programmes
