The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the position a Professor/Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitative Sciences:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements

Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy
Professional registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa
At least 7 years’ experience in higher education for a full Professor and 5 years for Associate Professor with extensive teaching, curriculum development and research experience in Speech- Language Pathology/Therapy
Track record of research publications commensurate with the academic rank level of a full Professor/ Associate Professor
Extensive successful postgraduate Masters and Doctoral supervision

Additional Requirements

Evidence of successful fundraising for research-related activities in the field of Speech- Language Pathology/Therapy
Evidence of academic leadership and/or mentoring emerging researchers
Evidence of attracting and working with post-doctoral fellows will be an added advantage
Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of Speech-Language Pathology/Therapy.
Recognition as a leading scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g. NRF rating; international keynote/plenaries) will be an added advantage

Responsibilities Include:

Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programs
Develop postgraduate programs and supervise students
Undertake publishable academic research
Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
Perform academic leadership and related administrative duties
Secure external research grants and establish programmes
