The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer (1 post) in the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Science and Agriculture.

Minimum Requirements:Â

A Doctoral Degree in Soil Science (preferably in Soil Physics)
At least 10 yearsâ teaching experience in higher education for full Professor/ 7 yearsâ experience in higher education for Associate Professor/5 yearsâ experience in higher education for Senior Lecturer

Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in Soil Science (preferably in Soil Physics)
A track record of accredited research publications that are nationally and internationally recognized commensurate with the academic rank of Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer
Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Masters and Doctoral supervision

Duties:

Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Soil Science, Soil Physics, Soil Water Management, Irrigation, Plant-Water Relations and related areas
Secure external research grants and establish research programmes
Establish national and international collaborations
Supervise Honours, Masters and Doctoral students and host post-doctoral fellows
Meet research publication requirements appropriate for the academic rank
Contribute to academic leadership and mentorship of academic staff
Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels
