SUMMARY:
Programme Manager: Planning & Development (Richards Bay)

POSITION INFO:

An excellent opportunity exists for an experienced professional to fulfill the role of: Programme Manager: Planning & Development, based at the Head Office in Alton, Richards Bay.   The appointee will render support to the GM: Technical Services in identifying new business opportunities, undertaking planning, compiling and evaluating business plans by using sound judgement, initiative and technical expertise.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Planning and development of new business.
  • Identifying and evaluating expansion opportunities.
  • High level planning of potential water and related services projects.
  • Preparing business plans, project proposals and funding applications.
  • Progress reporting and team leadership.
  • Oversight and management of projects that are in the planning stage.
  • Ensure that all bid processes are followed in terms of the appointment of service providers.
  • Ensuring GIS and related resources are maintained.
  • Conduct Risk assessments and contingency planning.
  • Asset management

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree (NQF level 7) in Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of five year’s relevant experience or a National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Civil Engineering with a minimum of seven years relevant experience.
• Registration with ECSA as Professional Engineer or Professional Technologist is required.
• Water engineering in a project or planning environment will be preferred.
• Proficiency in the simultaneous planning of large and small engineering projects.
• Sound knowledge of public sector procurement processes and applicable legislation is required.
• Well-developed skills in management, negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Knowledge of potable and wastewater treatment and asset management
• Computer literacy in MS Office, MS Projects, and GIS.
• Excellent report writing skills.
• Valid Driver’s licence.
