Programme Manager (Wits PHRU)

Main purpose of the job:

• To strategically and operationally manage a project aimed at timely implementation of high-quality work, setting realistic priorities and planning for successful implementation within a research environment

Location:

• PHRU, Chris Hani Baragwanath New Nurses Home, Soweto - Johannesburg

Key performance areas:

• Management of the study conduct including protocol development, and implementation, reports, and reporting
• Liaise with all stakeholders within the organization at all levels of the business in order to meet program goals
• Manage study operational plans in conjunction with the respective P.I. and other necessary stakeholders
• Managing the review and approval of regulatory and other required study documents for GCP compliance
• Liaison with Regulatory Manager on ethics committee requirements for submitting protocols and amendments
• Planning and managing monitoring visits
• Manage and facilitate study meetings as required for staff and Sponsors
• Creation of budget/s in conjunction with the respective P.I/ P. I’s, Finance, and Sponsors by required and agreed deadlines
• In conjunction with the study team, create and implement participant recruitment and retention strategies
• Develop and implement required checklists e.g., Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria, Randomization
• Develop Source documents in conjunction with the data manager, study coordinators, and study doctors
• Direct line manager for members of the team
• Participate and present in conference calls as necessary
• Staff management and oversight

Required minimum education and training:

• Project Management Certificate or Diploma
• Science degree preferably biomedical sciences
• Good Clinical Practice

Required minimum work experience:

• Previous experience in a senior role, in a research environment
• A minimum of 5 years experience in the management of clinical trials

• Leadership
• Background in quality assurance is preferable
