Project /Design Manager - Engineering/Mineral Processing Equipment

SUMMARY:
A well-known and established Company specialising in mining and mineral processing requires the above to effectively plan, monitor, manage, execute, and deliver projects from initiation through to completion ensuring consistency with Company commitments and goals.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• A tertiary qualification in either BSc, BEng or BTech or equivalent in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or Electrical or any other relevant engineering discipline, specialising in engineering projects is essential.
• Registration as a Project Management Professional (PMP) will be an advantage.
• Previous experience working within the heavy engineering or mineral processing equipment, or related big operational industries is preferred.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Projects, Microsoft Office, CAD or Inventor.
• The successful candidate must have good planning and communication skills.
• Strong commercial and financial skills having been involved in Capex budgeting is essential.
• Experience in service level agreements and contract management is preferred.
• Experience and working knowledge of project methodologies (PMBOK, Prince 2) which are used to manage technical and Capex projects is preferred.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Manage the Capex budget for the Division by working closely with the General Manager of the operation.
• Ensure that projects are managed in line with the Company’s project methodology.
• Ensure that projects are properly scoped and involving all relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure that scopes of works are properly constructed to allow Procurement to go out to market for tenders.
• Oversee and manage all maintenance and new commissioning projects.
• Compile and finalise all assigned Capex votes.  
• Manage projects from concept to plant hand-over.
• Manage and maintain the project management system including initiation, planning, implementation and reporting.  
• Manage costs within budgets and maintain agreed timeframes for all projects.
• Ensure adherence to safety procedures for all Contractors.
• Implement and manage contracts, guarantees and performance and service level agreements with the various Contractors, Suppliers and Consultants.
• Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement and motivate and implement appropriate changes.
