Position Overview:
The Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning, execution, and delivery of energy projects, ensuring that all technical, safety, and environmental standards are met. This role requires a strong engineering background, hands-on project management skills, and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions within schedule and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and oversee the engineering aspects of energy-related projects (renewable, electrical, mechanical, or hybrid systems).
- Prepare and review project proposals, technical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and performance, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
- Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Manage documentation, including project reports, progress updates, and change control.
- Identify technical risks and propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements, including local and international energy standards.
- Support procurement processes by evaluating technical submissions and vendor capabilities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and project optimization.
Qualifications and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Energy Engineering (or related field).
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in project engineering within the energy, power generation, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management practices, and energy systems (solar, wind, thermal, etc.).
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and CAD tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., SANS, IEC, ISO, NERSA, or similar).
- Experience working with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) or turnkey projects is advantageous.
- Professional registration (ECSA or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
