Our client in the Engineering industry has a position available for a Project Engineering Manager to start immediately.

Qualifications

• Recognised Engineering (BTech, B.Sc. or B.Eng.)
• Professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
• Additional qualification in Project Management will be beneficial

Experience

• 15+ years’ work experience with 5+ years of project leadership (Lead Engineer or Project Engineer)
• Mineral Processing Plants experience OR Underground Mining experience OR Power/Energy experience
• EPC/EPCM Projects
• Relevant Site Experience
• Workshare Experience (Multi-office)
• Engineering management of large multi-disciplinary projects (Wish)

Knowledge

• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
• Sound Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001)
• Sound knowledge of Engineering Management techniques
• Knowledge & application of safety policies and procedures
• Extensive Knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of good practice (e.g., labour legislation, OHSA) and regulatory requirements
• Broad Knowledge of All Engineering Design & Principles
• Extensive Knowledge of National and International Standards
• Extensive knowledge of Engineering tools / Software
• Intimate Knowledge of and application of SANS/IEC
• Extensive understanding of project control’s function
• Good Multi-Office Project Experience
• Extensive Multi-Project Phase Experience
• Extensive and thorough understanding of the project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedule

Duties and Accountability

• To ensure Health, Safety and Environment has the highest priority in all activities undertaken by all Engineering and Design personnel. Ensure the project team follows safe working practices and follow HSE procedures.
• Ensures that the quality of the work performed by Engineering is in accordance with the company’s standard, procedures and client’s requirements as laid down in the contract.
• To establish and maintain good working relationships within the project team
• To plan and co-ordinate multi-discipline engineering design assignments within and across disciplines to agreed time and cost limits
• To develop solutions to engineering problems which meet or exceed project requirements
• To manage the delivery of all design deliverables in accordance with project requirements of HSE, quality, cost, and time
• Participate in P&ID and HAZOP reviews
• Ensure the Technical Integrity and consistency of design outputs
• Define engineering standards with regards to quality, safety and performance and ensure adherence to these standards
• Plan and manage engineering and design systems implementation, technical specifications, standard drawings, standard setup of models etc and data management systems on the project
• Plan and manage engineering resources on the project
• Manage value improvement processes where applicable
• Define and ensure adherence to provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the project
• Provide technical interface with equipment suppliers and contractors
• Manage other consultants / specialists
• Ensures that a trained, motivated, technical, and quality/cost conscious and balanced project staff is developed and maintained.
• Adhere to National & International Standards & Specifications
• Adhere & Ensure Compliance of HSE Policies & Procedures
• Provide direction to Lead Engineers on the project
• Deliverable based Man-hour estimating planning & cost control
• Ensure compliance to company Engineering processes and procedures
• Management of project’s engineering Budgets & Planning
• Ensure project engineering staff are trained, managed, and developed
