JOB SUMMARY:
Introduction
We are looking for applicants with an interest in project development in the energy, mining, and infrastructure sectors, with an interest in engineering, procurement and construction. The successful candidate will gain exposure to, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Engineering, Procurement and Construction Contracts, Operation and Maintenance Agreements, various types of Supply Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements, and Concession Agreements. If appointed, the candidate will be working with Local and International Banks, Development Finance Institutions, Sponsors, Shareholders, Owners and EPC Contractors on large construction projects, Due Diligences investigations & risk analysis, and Project development advisory work.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties and Responsibilities

Drafting and settling contracts relating to engineering and procurement, and construction of large infrastructure projects.
Supporting and participating in the legal and commercial negotiations.
Undertaking due diligence investigations, risk analysis and co ordinating thereof.
Preparation of documents including ad hoc advisory work, client communications, presentations and bid documents/fee quotes and proposals.

Qualifications and Experience:

Admitted Attorney
Minimum 2-5 years post qualification experience in drafting, vetting and negotiation of contract in the corporate infrastructure development sector
Excellent drafting and communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good time management
Is able to receive instructions from senior instructing attorney and carry out instructions independently and effectively
A collaborative attitude to working with within large teams (internationally and externally)

The candidate should have a good work ethic and be hard working and diligent. Be able to communicate effectively in a team structure. Be able to manage client relations and be able put the client first and always be responsive. In addition, the candidate must be smart, eloquent, achievement-oriented, takes pride in their work and is focused and able to work well under pressure in a deadline driven environment. The candidate must be a team player but also be able to complete tasks independently, timeously and efficiently without micro-management.
