SUMMARY:
A Project Manager (12 Months Fixed Term Contract) vacancy is available at our Client, Wits Health Consortium's MRC/Wits Rural Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit (Agincourt) in Bushbuckridge - Mpumalanga.

POSITION INFO:

Background

The MRC/Wits Rural Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit (Agincourt) is an exceptional health and population research centre in rural northeast South Africa. With more than 25 years of longitudinal health and socio-demographic surveillance in the Agincourt sub-district. As an important activity of the MRC/Wits Agincourt Research Unit, the Agincourt HDSS-Clinic- Hospital Link was developed as an ongoing longitudinal data platform to capture and store patient identifies, demographic and clinical information. Data is collected from primary healthcare facilities in the Agincourt Health and socio-Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) study area and nearby district hospitals (Matikwana, Mapulaneng and Tintswalo).

Patients are then linked to the Agincourt HDSS population facilitating more complete monitoring of the burden and impact of various illnesses, coverage of healthcare services, and study of the selective use of healthcare services. The ensuing analytic data is also used to provide local and district health and other public sector authorities with much-improved statistics on the utilization of services, integrated chronic care, and the burden/impact of other illnesses, including co-morbidities, on critical, decentralized levels of the healthcare system.

Utilizing the Agincourt HDSS-Clinic-Hospital Link, the Agincourt HDSS and other nested studies aim to assess the extent to which adult individuals with multiple chronic health conditions self-monitor their health, what methods they use, and the effect of self-monitoring on behaviors and health outcomes.
