SUMMARY:
Project Manager - 6 months contract

POSITION INFO:

Job Purpose

To plan, organise, and integrate cross-functional information technology projects that are significant in scope and impact and aligned with the company’s 4IR initiatives. Responsible for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, and controlling and closure of a project.

Key Performance Areas

Project Management and Planning

  • Defines project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management
  • Conducts Stakeholder analysis for focused project management communication and reporting
  • Plans and monitors project work and updates as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Manages and monitors end to end Implementation of project through approved plan/s
  • Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities/tasks
  • Manages day-to-day aspects of a project and scope
  • Reviews project deliverables for sign off by relevant stakeholders
  • Effectively applies the company’s project management methodology and ensures
  • Compliance to project standards
  • Coordinates and facilitate project reviews and ensures proper quality assurance procedures
  • Manages project risk through analysis and mitigation
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
  • Negotiates with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company
  • Determines and assesses need for additional staff and/or consultants and make appropriate recruitments if necessary, during project cycle
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  • Plans and oversees the preparation and dissemination of project communication and reports
  • Engages project customers and owners in terms of delivered projects benefits

Quality Control and Risk Assessment

  • Effectively applies the company’s project management and ensures compliance to project management standards and best practise
  • Manages project risk through proactive analysis and propose mitigation actions
  • Constantly monitor project against set requirements, timelines, cost and scope and ensure quality
  • Implements and manages project change controls and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Conduct post project reviews for lessons learnt sessions purposes

Budgeting and Reporting

  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and recommends subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis
  • Analyses project profitability, feasibility and viability
  • Provides weekly and monthly reports
  • Tracks all project procurement movements to update the project plan
  • Develops and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Determines the frequency and content of weekly reports from the project team, analyse results and troubleshoots problem areas
  • Manages project resource allocation

Stakeholder Management

  • Identify project stakeholders
  • Perform stakeholder analysis to understand different types of stakeholders in the project; their roles, interests and influence
  • Put together a communication plan to determine what information and communication is relevant for which stakeholders, at which intervals
  • Engage key and general stakeholders on regular basis to provide feedback, request assistance or for decisions
  • Consult and report regularly the problems, progress and status of the project to key stakeholders

Staff Management & Development

  • Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervise project team
  • Conducts performance reviews and staff development
  • Assigns and delegates work to team accordingly
  • Provides guidance to team resolve project issues and challenges
  • Assist with team performance management

Personal & Professional Development

  • Continues professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices

Minimum Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or relevant qualification
  • Professional Project Management qualification e.g. Prince 2 Practitioner or PMI
  • Demonstrate experience in managing projects throughout the entire delivery lifecycle
  • Experience in managing senior stakeholders, 3rd party suppliers / partners and internal diverse teams
  • 5 to 8 years’ experience
  • Demonstrate experience in implementation of systems or data related projects
  • 5+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects
  • 5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 1 year of previous experience with gathering requirements from clients to business and documentation
  • Experience in best practices within and outside to established benchmark data and use continuous process improvement disciplines to achieve results
  • Experience in successfully leading project to on-time, on-schedule and within budget close
  • Advanced level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint
