JOB SUMMARY:
A mining Company in Gauteng has a Contract Vacancy for a Project Manager in the ReConnect Department.   This will be a 12 month Project.

The role includes managing resources and project schedules to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and budget. Managing issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery are also an integral of this role. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.
The Project Manager has to manage the successful delivery of the project(s) on a day-to-day basis. Verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case
The ReConnect department have to maintain multi-stakeholder relationships with the mines internal departments, the MBOD/CCOD (state compensation for occupational lung diseases), the Tshiamiso Trust and other mineworker related funds

  • Project Management Certification/s
  • A or B.Comm or B.Sc
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a project manager or similar role

The mining Company has taken the lead in facilitating the settlement of claims due to eligible current and former Mineworkers. The Company launched its own Project Ku-Ritha ReConnect initiative so as to:
i) update the Mine employee record database, and
ii) develop a claims system to assist employees in claiming amounts due to them from already established compensation funds

The ReConnect team is re-focusing on a number of workstreams (system and non-system related) to:
  • facilitate the settlement of unclaimed benefits due to Harmony mineworkers (past, present and future)
  • enhance current systems and processes to ensure that there are no new unclaimed benefits in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously;
  • Manage all aspects of multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives;
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities;
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence;
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organisation;
  • Manage the detailed project plan for all phases of the project;
  • Identify all the internal and external resources whether financial or human resources required completing the project successfully.
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership;
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs;
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices;
  • Manage project scope and changes;
  • Act as an internal quality control check for the project;
  • Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution;
  • Assist in project priority disputes, negotiation solutions as needed;
  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues;
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverable with team members and stakeholders;
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate resources.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various business stakeholders, project team, sponsors
  • Deliver appropriate and effective executive level communication;
  • Ensure that projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards;
  • Manage project and program issues and risks to mitigate impact to agreed time- and deadlines;
