JOB SUMMARY:
Overall management of EPC/EPCM Mining projects, ensuring that the projects are efficiently and effectively managed, resulting in completed projects that are to the satisfaction of the client.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Project Manager (EPC/EPCM - Mining Projects)

Based in Kempton and travel to various projects throughout Africa.

Main Purpose of Job (Roles & Responsibilities):

Overall management of EPC/EPCM Mining projects, ensuring that the projects are efficiently and effectively managed, resulting in completed projects that are to the satisfaction of the client.

Main functions include (but not limited to):

• Overall management of the project schedule.

• Overall management of the project budget.

• Overall management of the project quality.

• Overall management of the client relationship.

• Lead, co-ordinate and manage all engineering and design functions for a project.

• Ensuring different disciplines are integrated into an effective, fit for purpose, engineering solution.

• Technical Support.

• Contract Management.

• Site Support.

• Commissioning (when required).

• Documentation and handover.

Operational Management

• Provide input into all SHE matters, actively participate and promote a total safety culture.

• Management of project internal and external stakeholders.

• Management of the project set-up phase including the development and implementation (training) of project procedures as required.

• Management of the project scope including management of the change control process.

• Management of the project schedule so as to ensure timeous completion of project deliverables.

• Management of the project budget and related project cost control processes.

• Management of project risks, such that risks to both the company and the client are mitigated.

• Management of all project quality aspects so as to ensure conformance to the agreed project quality management plan.

• Management of project communications including documentation control and project reporting.

• Management of the project execution phase including the design and procurement efforts as required.

• Management of the construction and commissioning project phases as required.

• Management of the project close-out phase including ensuring that project lessons learned are documented, communicated and distributed.

Technical Competence &Expertise

• Ensures that the project is managed such that the technical solution offered is to the client''s requirements.

• Ensures that the project is managed such that the technical solution offered utilizes industry proven technology whilst applying innovative designs.

• Ensures that the engineering effort is well coordinated between disciplines and departments.

• Ensures that AZMET project management systems and tools are effectively and efficiently applied.

Finance & Budget

• Management of the commercial aspects of the projects so as to ensure that the project is generally profitable, and consistent with the margins envisaged at tender stage.

• Management of the project such that contractual bonus opportunities are maximized, without compromising the project standards or long-term client relations.

• Management of the commercial relationship with the client including ensuring that all contractual issues are managed such that commercial risks are mitigated. (With specific focus on contractual liabilities, battery limits and performance guarantee requirements).

• Management of the project EPCM / man-hour budget.

• Management of client invoicing process including ensuring that payments are received timeously.

Client Relations

• Management of the relationship with the client with the specific focus on forming a long term mutually beneficial relationship thereby securing repeat business).

• Client relationship includes the following:

o Meeting and exceeding the project clients’ deliverables.

o Timeously and effectively solving client problems.

o Ensuring that clients are kept informed and up to date on the status of the project.

o Ensuring that all interactions with clients are conducted in professional and respectful manner.

SHE Management

• Overall management of the project safety, health, environmental and social aspects where applicable.

• Management of the development and implementation of the project safety procedures.

• Driving the total safety culture and health of all employees.

• Performing SHE Inspections when on site and giving feedback to project teams on the findings of such inspections.

People Management

• Ensures that appropriate resources are deployed so as to ensure the success of the project.

• Ensures that a positive and constructive atmosphere is propagated through the project team.

• Ensures that an appropriate level of staff mentorship and development is encouraged within the project team,

• Ensures, through HODS and HR as appropriate, conformance to all labour legislation as well as to policies and procedures.

• Participates in staff performance, discipline and other management processes.
