About:

A key part of the role is stakeholder management across the business and the ability to translate technical jargon into business terminology. This role is responsible for understanding the business problem / opportunity and assisting the business owner with determining the project approach and project streams required to ensure delivering on Strategic or Regulatory Projects. Manage or prepare a well-defined project within a Business Unit or functional area within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost. This role initiates, plans, executes and finalizes each project within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost. This role is required to understand various Project methodologies including traditional waterfall and Agile methods.

  • Responsible for the management of one or more large project implementation throughout the project lifecycle using traditional and Agile methodologies
  • Assists Project Owner with developing a strong Business Case.
  • Ensures that the Project Management framework, practices, processes and governances followed by the project team.
  • Effective and appropriate stakeholder Management will all levels of stakeholders across the business
  • Produce project performance and other reports as per the requirements of the Project Management Office
  • Is able to manage key dependencies, roles and challenges.
  • Responsible for delivering successful project outcomes as set out in the Business Case.
  • Delivers specified outcomes to the quality standards which meet customer satisfaction.
  • Delivers the required product/s and outcome/s for each project, phase or sprint in line with time and cost as per the plan/s.
  • Ensures the correct people are allocated to the project team in order to achieve objectives.
  • Manages & motivates the team in order to optimally perform the work required.
  • Manages conflict within the team and externally if required.
  • Manages project finance budgets, forecasts and expenses.
  • Identify, assess and minimize project risks and issues & manage control logs.
  • Identify and manage all project dependencies and interdependencies.
  • Is able to identify benefits of the project and link back to Business Plans and strategies
  • Establishes and updates plans with actual and forecasts.
  • Manages deviations from plan to keeps the business / project sponsor appraised of issues / risks and provide alternatives where appropriate.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior Project managers where required.
  • Escalates decisions and/or unresolved issues and in doing so provides alternatives and or solutions to relevant forums.
  • Integrates delivery and metrics across the people, process, finance and customer dimensions of the business.
  • Is accountable for thought leadership and best operating practice in response to external / business environment.
  • Constantly seeks innovative ways of improving ways of work taking into account any updates and changes to the industry.

Quality Management

  • Ensures that quality is planned in solutions, measured and achieved

 

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Degree/equivalent
  • Accredited Project Management certification / qualification or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in Project Management in traditional and Agile environments
  • Experience in utilising various project management tools & methodologies
  • Experience in management of large, complex projects
  • Experience in integration of Business and IT, managing 3rd party deliveries and dependencies
  • Previous experience within the Group or Financial Services will be advantageous
