SUMMARY:
Fast-growing South African fintech is seeking a People Partner to drive measurable outcomes across recruitment, retention, performance, and employee engagement.
POSITION INFO:
In this role, you’ll own outcomes, not just tasks - acting with urgency, sound judgement, and a self-driven approach to continually raise the standard of the People function. Responsibilities include driving end-to-end recruitment for all priority roles (including active headhunting and pipeline building), optimising the ATS (Breezy) for accountable hiring, and designing competency-based screening and structured interview panels. You’ll manage hiring timelines proactively, coordinate with ExCo and hiring managers on role requirements and expectations, conduct rigorous reference and background checks, and prepare employment contracts.
You’ll further manage the full onboarding process through to end of probation, conduct structured check-ins, facilitate cultural inductions, and coordinate pre-start
logistics to ensure seamless new-joiner experiences. You’ll own the employee satisfaction survey cycle, proactively identify flight risks, monitor engagement signals, and lead targeted retention and recognition initiatives. Acting as a trusted first point of contact for employee concerns, you’ll resolve or escalate issues as appropriate and produce regular People metrics reports that inform business decisions.
The ideal candidate has 3-5 years’ experience in a people-centric role, ideally within a fast-moving scale-up, fintech, or professional services environment. High EQ, the ability to independently identify what needs doing, and a focus on outcomes rather than tasks are essential.
