SUMMARY:
Project Support provides leadership and project management oversight for all Enterprise (internal) and Customer (external) projects initiated in company.

POSITION INFO:

MAIN PURPOSE

The effective execution of tasks related to leading and project managing the design, planning, implementing (On-net and Off-net) and support of network and service implementations, system implementations, process and procedures and other capabilities for company Customers and internal functional departments. This includes undertaking works in all provinces on company’s national footprint. The role requires work to be performed during business with occasional non-business hours as required due to the nature of the scheduled and unscheduled works required by company as a 24/7/365 telecommunications company.

  • Achieving the right balance and mix of project outputs to deliver the customer and company Strategic Business objectives
  • Build and deliver projects aligning customer/contractual scope requirements with projects and their benefit expected

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA (OBJECTIVE):-

DELIVERY: CUSTOMER & ENTERPRISE PROJECTS:

  • Customer, Enterprise and Off-net project management (define and develop project scoping, monitoring and control framework)
  • Provide the overall project leadership on project practices to customer and company’s functional  and technical workforce
  • Be overall responsible and the point of contact for Customer, Enterprise and Off-net projects at customer interface (during escalation and line of business incidents)
  • Define, implement and manage the Time Management practices for all direct reports
  • Plan, execute, and finalize projects/sub-projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.  This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver the project outputs according to plan
  • Aggregate measurement of all projects/subprojects under management against baselined programme, excluding customer delays
  • Coordinate the Project delivery to ensure allocation of resources meets the customer and business objectives.
  • Ensure personal commitment to excellence to company existing practices/process
  • Provide the leadership and ensure participation of the required direct reports into improving and developing company’s existing and new practices/processes
  • Ability to manage, control and co-ordinate deliverables from self and direct reports against cost, time and scope plan (BAU, Project and Offnet Delivery)
  • Continuously develop new SOP’s and ensure and monitor direct reports adherence through QA
  • Define, introduce and apply Project Management practices for BAU, Project and Off-net Delivery (Risk, Quality, Cost and Progress Management)
  • Manage deliverables of cross-functional teams ensuring that project delivery is on time.
  • Drive Revenue and Profit measures at Project Level (Project Level Measurement)
  • Alignment of technical solution deliverables to business requirements
  • Define testing/QA/Delivery of activities carried out in accordance with defined processes and alignment to customer deliverables.

 

PROJECT QUALITY & RISK MANAGEMENT:

  • Acknowledge, understand and manage customer and Program/Project/Work Package Delivery issues, SLA breached disputes to ensure resolution of all queries are managed timeously.
  • Co-ordinate with the respective internal departments and manage the escalation to resolution speedily.
  • Escalate to internal department management to ensure that the customer issue is resolved timeously.
  • Escalate to vendors/3rd party contractors and manage these escalations to resolution to ensure finality on matters.
  • Manage internal escalation tracking meetings to ensure all parties remain aware of their role.
  • Ensuring that the systems within sphere of control is effectively maintained
  • Accurate risk logs per programme are consolidated and reported at Project Level
  • Ensure all risks have comprehensive risk mitigation plans
  • Effective risk communication internally (Exective) and externally (Customer+Supplier) with clear escalation methodology

 

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION (INTERNAL & EXTERNAL) & INNOVATION:

  • Identify and rectify root cause findings on System, Process or Technology in cross functional divisions to help solve problems and improve services
  • Drive SIP''s through the respective cross functional departments until resolution to ensure problems and queries are resolved timeously.
  • Participate with IT to develop reports to drive efficiencies across various departments internally to improve service delivery.
  • Participate with input into RFP and new contact negotiations to ensure escalation services are provided on new contracts and services

 

PREPARATION/ADMIN/GENERAL:

  • Understand customer (internal and external) requirements and develop and participate in the scoping of works and BoM for BAU and Project Delivery
  • Define, improve, monitor and control the execution of all technical pre and post installation procedures (preparation and on-site installations, scoping, BoM etc.)
  • Ensure self and direct reports adherence to functional and company process and practices for ordering stock
  • Personal administration for jobs, time registers, logbooks and other work-related administration per existing and new company practices
  • Adhere to internal functional escalation processes during incidents
  • Ensure good judgment and practice for protecting company property (tools, cell phones, laptops, vehicles and Intellectual Property)
  • Ensure adherence to company vehicle maintenance policies (Service, licence, condition)
  • Exemplify and participate in asset and stock management practices
  • Exemplify and participate in good practices towards clean and safe workshop/storeroom
  • Identify, develop and motivate the required training needs of Self and direct reports

JOB REQUIREMENTS:-

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Matric – Essential
  • Under-Graduate degree or Post-Graduate Diploma – Essential
  • Specialist Certifications (PRINCE2, PMBOK/PMP, ITIL) and/or Post-Graduate Diplomas would be an advantage – Essential
  • Computer literacy/COMPTIA – Essential
  • Electrical circuits 101 AC/DC/Solar (or similar) – Essential
  • NTCNA Mikrotic (or similar) – Essential
  • RF/Microwave Advanced – Essential
  • Structured cabling – Essential

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 5 years in the WISP or Telco industry – Essential
