QA Technologist

SUMMARY:
Seeking a QA / Garment Technologist to join a multinational consumer brands business representing well-known global Apparel and Footwear brands.

The QA Technologist is the custodian of the quality process and is responsible for each step of the process.

POSITION INFO:

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implementing QA processes and best practice within the company and across the existing suppliers.
• Communication of company QA process/requirements.
• Consistent/timeous response and communication with the merchandise team and suppliers.
• Overseas and local travel, where necessary, to implement QA process with suppliers when necessary.
• General supplier performance analysis and reporting on QA issues.
• Factory visits where appropriate – appraisal and reports thereof.
• Facilitating the QA process.
• Measuring all QA submissions (1st QA, resubs, PPS samples, shipping samples, BPS samples etc.) timeously and accurately.
• Understanding of the measuring techniques/requirements/acceptable standards across various categories.
• Amendments to patterns where and when necessary.
• Scheduling of daily fittings with Product Development team.
• Effective and efficient management of the QA–In, QA-Out system (i.e. consistently meeting QA deadlines).
• Ensuring QA comments are actioned timeously and accurately (reviewing and advising where necessary).
• Issuing of graded spec to suppliers.
• Liaising with Design team regarding patterns, specs, design amendments, fits etc.
• Liaising with suppliers via the Buying team, regarding specs, fits, pattern amendments and overall production/ QA queries.
• Implementation and scrutiny of the Shipping sample process, ensuring reports are completed, suppliers are communicated to and the company policies are enforced regarding inferior quality and shipping.
• Shipping sample reports completed and submitted timeously and accurately.
• Shipping sample pack (QA, PPS and Shipping sample) – to be compiled and provide to Coordinators timeously and accurately.

Requirements

• Matric and relevant tertiary qualification in Clothing Technology.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role within a retail/fashion environment.
