SUMMARY:
Reporting to the GM the incumbent will manage the Quality Department from sampling to analysis and reporting as well as all departmental functions
POSITION INFO:
Duties:
• Manage sampling, testing and reporting of raw materials, intermediate and final products to ensure product quality meet internal, market and SABS requirements
• Manage the ISO 9001:2015 and SANS 1841 Management Systems
• Designs the product mixture based upon raw material quality and production performance
- Ensure optimal in-process and final product quality management and control
• Recruit, train and manage people
• Manage and controls departmental costs within budgetary expectations
• Initiate, maintain and execute work duties in accordance with company policy, procedures, work instructions and risk management standards
• Initiate and execute cost saving initiatives and product quality optimization programs
• Comply with and drive Safety, Health and Environmental programs in area of responsibility
Requirements:
• B.Sc Chemistry or B.Sc Eng Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years Laboratory / Quality Management experience in the mining industry
• Experience in managing a team
• Experience with ISO 9001 and Quality management as well as auditing systems
• Experience in laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration and operation, specifically XRF
