SUMMARY:
Skilled Boilermaker (red seal) required with approximately 5 years’ plus, post-apprenticeship experience in fabricating, repairing and modifying components and structures on commercial trailers.  Join our reputable Client on the Far East Rand, reporting to the Workshop Supervisor.

POSITION INFO:
Role Purpose
The Skilled Boilermaker will be responsible for fabricating, repairing, and modifying components and structures on commercial trailers, ensuring high-quality workmanship that meets safety and compliance standards. The role requires proficiency in reading technical drawings, welding, cutting, and working with heavy steel structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair trailer components, frames, and structures.
• Carry out welding, cutting, and grinding tasks on heavy-duty commercial trailers.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and work orders.
• Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Perform structural modifications and reinforcements as required.
• Operate workshop equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, durability, and adherence to specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades (panel beaters, spray painters, fitters) to ensure workflow efficiency.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with 5S and health & safety policies.
• Report material requirements, defects, or potential issues to supervisors.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Boilermaker, preferably in heavy vehicle or trailer repair.
• Proven skills in MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on mild steel and high-strength steel.
• Experience in fabrication, cutting, grinding, and structural repair.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards in a workshop environment.
• Forklift or crane operation experience (advantageous).
