SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will lead food safety and quality in the business operation by overseeing the activity of the quality assurance department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organisations products and/or development processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement and develop a robust quality program and drive the adoption of quality standards, practices, toolsets and processes across all areas of the business 
  • To provide technical expertise to the team and help ensure the appropriate testing techniques are used to find defects early in the test cycle.
  • Analyse product specifications and ensure the highest level of adherance 
QA Duties:
  • Design, Implement and maintain Food Safety Management System to conform to FS22000 FSMS & GFSI. 
  • Identifies and sets appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
  • Communicates quality standards and parameters to QA team, product development team, and other appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates product testing processes in line with quality assurance
  • Responsible for Internal Auditing against the Systems in place.
  • Identifies and analyses issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues.
  • Establish and maintain controls and documentation procedures
  • Reviews client, customer, and user feedback.
  • Give suggestions on change and improvement to make and how to implement them
  • Monitor performance by gathering relevant data, as well as produce statistical reports for management to review.
  • Maintains compliance with regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Execute Training schedule. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Health & Safety:
  • Design, Implement and maintain Health and safety system to conform to OHS Act. 
  • Advocate basic Occupational Hygiene, Safety and Sanitation. 
  • Respond to any safety complaints and concerns raised by employees
  • Coordinate and deal with health and safety committees, department of labor, government bodies and regulating agencies
  • Report all critical emergencies, accidents, staff complaints to the management, and investigate such cause
  • Manage and take responsibility for first aid procedures,IODs and other emergency procedures such as a fire drills; including employee first aid training.
Leadership, People Management & Development:
  • Support and entrench the company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, key employee retention and development, and high performance.
  • Inspire and motivate the broader SHP  team (not just your direct reports) to deliver on goals and maximize individual  and the overall company performance
  • Provide oversight and direction to your team 
  • Recruit, development and performance management of your direct reports
Requirements of the role:
  • Degree or Diploma in Food Science, Biotechnology or Microbiology
  • Minimum of 5 Years’  experience in production/Food environment. of which were overseeing a quality team.
  • Willingness to travel to African Countries
  • Experience in managing employees and overseeing a quality team.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
