POSITION INFO:

Job Description:

• Direct supervision of the QC teams within their allocated departments
• Maintain effectiveness of QC departments within a Lean Manufacturing production environment
• Conduct first off procedures and inspect items within the machine shop
• Authorize and accept items that are not within tolerance or to machine drawing within machine shop
• Carry out random spot inspection checks in all areas of Assembly, Machine Shop and other areas
• Sign off routings and batch orders
• Ensure that scrap items which are rejected are moved timeously to quarantine areas
• Assist fellow QC staff in bottle neck areas of Hydro Testing, Assembly and others
• Compiling of NCR x2 /x3 when required, and finalizing them timeously
• Compile concessions when required, and finalize them timeously in consultation with QC and Technical      Managers
• Assist the QC Manager in his daily duties, if and when required
• Monitor QC Department / Staff for work efficiency and time keeping / absenteeism
• Ensure that all areas of production are covered by QC
• Schedule QC staff into areas required within QC holiday times / absenteeism, emergency etc.
• Carry out necessary analytical and accurate reporting, if and when required
• Be able to make decision without the Manager''s involvement, or as part of your team leads
• Be Quality consciousness at all times
• Work overtime and/or shifts, if and when required in consultation with the QC Manager
• Issue work instructions to QC staff when required
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures including Health and Safety
• Assist fellow QC staff with their functions, when required
• Carry out all reasonable tasks delegated by the QC Manager from time to time
  

Education:  Minimum Requirements

• Matric N4 / Technical Diploma
• Qualified Artisan (Turner or Fitter and Turner)

Job Experience & Skills Required:

• Experience as a Senior QC Inspector
• Extensive knowledge of QC and machining processes, and ability to analyse these fields
• Previous experience of pump manufacturing (advantageous)
• Advanced machining and QC inspection processes
• Able to work with all kinds of QC equipment, hand tools, 3D scanning, dimensional inspection probing equipment, would be an advantage
• Knowledge of material certification and requirements
• Working knowledge of measuring technics and various measuring equipment
• In depth machining and QC processes knowledge
• Knowledge of Standards / Norms / NOT Testing
• Extensive knowledge of complicated drawings, machining Q/QC processes and procedures
• Supervisory skills
• Computer Literate (Excel, Work, Outlook and SAP)
• Be able to define machine errors and casting errors, and report on finding accurately
• Be able to hold your own ground in various discussions
