Job title: Quality Controller

Our client, a well-established fruit import/export distribution company in Paarl – Western Cape, is seeking to employ a Quality Controller as soon as possible.

Job Overview:

As a Quality Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance process for our fruit import/export operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, extensive experience in quality control within the fruit industry, and a keen eye for detail. This role requires due diligence, proactive problem-solving, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of our products throughout the supply chain.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Quality Assurance Oversight:
   • Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures for fruit import/export operations.
   • Conduct regular inspections and audits of suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.
2. Technical Expertise:
   • Utilize in-depth technical knowledge of fruits to assess quality, taste, freshness, and overall condition.
   • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to address any quality-related issues promptly.
3. Due Diligence:
   • Perform due diligence on potential suppliers, assessing their capabilities and adherence to quality and safety standards.
   • Establish and maintain a robust system for tracking and documenting quality-related data.
4. Quality Documentation:
   • Create and maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and compliance records.
   • Ensure that all relevant quality documentation is accessible and up-to-date.
5. Continuous Improvement:
   • Identify opportunities for process improvement in the supply chain to enhance overall quality.
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 of experience in quality control within the fruit import/export industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of fruit varieties, quality parameters, and industry standards.
• Experience in due diligence processes related to supplier selection and quality assurance.
• Detail-oriented with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with internal teams and external suppliers effectively.
• Familiarity with relevant quality control tools and software.

The position is in-office.

Location: Paarl, Western Cape

Salary: Market Related (depending on experience)

Starting date: As soon as possible.
