Quality Engineer

My client in the Automotive Industry is seeking to employ a Quality Engineer at their Uitenhage Branch.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified & experienced employees to fill the above vacancy in Quality Assurance - QA Analysis & Planning Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participate in defining QAA specific field quality objectives, participate in the development of new projects, components and processes, together with the Design department and international counter parts, through the utilization of measurement, testing and process capability, etc., in order to ensure that corporate quality goals are supported and vehicle functions are in an acceptable condition for O-series and start of production.
•  Participate in the development of test criteria for vehicle functions based on reported field failures for confirmation of failure.
• Identify and evaluate field problems, conduct defect analysis to determine the root cause and provide support during development and implementation of corrective measures to ensure non-reoccurrence of defects in the factory/field.
•  Monitor the effectiveness of corrective measures implemented and document actions (utilizing problem sheets, reports, minutes, process indicators, etc.) in order to provide a database of corrective action taken.
•  Assess and support approval of PVS and O-series functions in order to ensure that they conform to requirements and that they support a timeous start of production, based on field failures reported on previous models.
•  Follow-up regularly with Production, Parts Quality, Design engineers, Production, Dealers and Suppliers on the progress of improved actions, but at all times co-ordinate and be responsible for the activities in the resolution of a concern and highlight to management stumbling blocks and consequences. Liaise with international counterparts and/or dealer network on technical problems reported and corrective action.
•  Provide support and participation in various meetings and problem solving forums (eg. development meetings, warranty meetings, re-call campaign/bulletin meetings, etc) in order to ensure understanding of requirements according to quality, cost and schedule.
•  Perform various tasks/functions of an administrative nature (ie. Weekly/monthly problem overview reports to management on local and international concerns, ensuring that these are carried out timeously and to the satisfaction of customer requirements and are in compliance with company administrative practices and procedures.
•  Liaise with a diversity of people both internally and externally (suppliers, dealers and importers), up to a senior management level, in order to ensure that requirements are understood and realized and departmental objectives are met.

Minimum Requirements:

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
•  3-5 years’ relevant experience in the automotive industry within Production / Product Engineering / Quality environment / Aftersales
• Knowledge of the vehicle functions (Electrical)
•  Ability to process and analyse complex data
• Strong computer skills (Ms Office ,  Group systems, incl. HyperKVS, AVON, ELSAPro, FIS, DISS, KPM, ODIS Service, System/Service 42, SIDIS)
•  Excellent report writing and presentation skills
•  Ability to communicate and present at all levels within the organisation
• Be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
•  Be able to make informed decisions in appointing accountability on behalf of the company
