Quantity Surveyor | Estimator (Sales Driven)

SUMMARY:
We are seeking a driven Quantity Surveyor/Estimator with experience in the steel manufacturing industry.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing estimates, bills of quantities, and cost plans, while building strong client relationships and coordinating across departments.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read drawings are essential.

Product knowledge in structural steel and metal work will be a strong advantage.

POSITION INFO:
Key Performance Areas:

• Prepare estimates, cost plans, bill of quantities, specifications, and schedules of rates for new builds, improvements, and maintenance work.
• Prepare preliminary estimates for conceptual projects.
• Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
• Interpret and understand project/program requirements.
• Gather first-hand information from sites, warehouses, or other venues.
• Conduct research to obtain data on labour costs, materials, production times, etc.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Communicate effectively between different departments on current projects and their requirements.
• Confirm payments, open job cards, and monitor projects through the various departments.

• National Senior Certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Tertiary education – Advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Competency in Microsoft applications.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to read drawings and plans.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Product knowledge in laser cutting, structural steel, and metal work – Advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
