Quantity Surveyor (Proficient in Afrikaans), Residential Property Development – Hartenbos/Mossel Bay

Job Description:

Our client is busy with a residential project including 100 houses that will be running for another 5 to 7 years. They are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor with about 10 years of experience and that is proficient in Afrikaans that would like to grow with the company, work towards obtaining shares and eventually become a director of the company over the next couple of years; the position therefore forms part of their succession planning.

Position details:

This is a permanent position reporting directly to the Directors.

Key aspects of the role:

To provide support to the Construction Manager (also a director) on an ongoing basis with planning and management.

To calculate the cost of and procure the necessary materials.

To calculate wages of subcontractors on a biweekly basis.

To determine price changes when clients change their requirements.

To calculate progress payments from clients monthly.

Ongoing calculation of tender fees to ensure the tender building list is kept up to date.

To help grow the business and eventually take over from one of the directors in calculating building prices, signing of building contracts and financial management.

Location: Hartenbos/Mossel Bay area, Western Cape

Job Qualification & Experience:

The ideal incumbent will:

– have +/- 10 years of experience in construction management/quantity surveying,

– be willing to relocate to the Hartenbos/Mossel Bay area,

– be an effective communicator that is not only passionate about construction, but about managing and expanding the business and to becoming a Director of the company.
