SUMMARY:
Modjadjiskloof Area – Limpopo: The successful incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of the Plant Pathology research programme, which includes undertaking individual research at world specialist level, with the aim of maximizing profits for the company
POSITION INFO:
The successful candidate requires the ability to foresee and identify problems, anticipate, and evaluate possible solutions to new and existing problems, by combining and applying knowledge, information and consulting expertise from a variety of sources to effectively arrive at appropriate solutions.
Tree and fruit health and long-term sustainability are important to the company. You will be required to have the ability to manage subordinate research staff as well as the Pathology research Budget.
It is necessary that the successful candidate have good communication skills and be able to communicate with clients and researcher at all levels on an international scale
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• A PhD of MSc in Plant Pathology
• At least 5 Years’ experience in agriculture research field, (preferably fruit tree crops)
Knowledge:
• Expert knowledge of research methodology
• Expert knowledge of report writing
• Sound knowledge of staff management
Skills:
• Computer literacy: MS Office - full package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Statistical packages / Expert on word and power point
• Fluency in English both written and spoken
• Spanish/Portuguese/Mandarin: conversational would be an advantage
• Good communication skills
Attitude/Behaviour:
• High level of professional expertise in the field of plant pathology with focus on the applied science of controlling diseases in avocados
• Attention to detail
• Energetic and driven
• Organized individual who can work independently
• Must be a team player
