Required / Expected Competencies:
- Registered doctor with MBChB and 2+ years’ clinical research experience.
- Current HPCSA registration and medical malpractice insurance.
- Strong knowledge and skills in general medical practice.
- Effective decision-making and collaboration skills.
- Thorough knowledge of ICH GCP.
- Meticulous attention to detail in patient data recording.
- Completion and management of study documentation.
- Professional attitude and proactive communication with colleagues.
- Commitment to professional development.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Advantageous: previous clinical research experience, proficiency in Tswana and/or Zulu.
Core Functions will include but not limited to:- Direct and oversee research activities, ensuring research integrity and compliance.
- Manage research projects administratively.
- Conduct unbiased research in line with regulations.
- Ensure accurate, ethical, and efficient clinical trial processes.
- Conduct clinical trials and provide medical oversight.
- Liaise with stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure adherence to ICH GCP and local guidelines.
- Apply clinical knowledge per protocol.
- Participate in and initiate trial data publications.
- Oversee regulatory processes, participant recruitment, quality assurance, and laboratory/pharmacy tasks.
- Facilitate participant recruitment and informed consent.
- Manage participants clinically as per protocols.
- Conduct and attend relevant training.
- Review and action laboratory results.
- Interpret ECGs, CXRs, etc.
- Address monitoring and data queries.
- Review and draft SOPs.
- Prepare source documents.
- Report adverse events.
- Engage in community education and clinic patient care.
- Train and develop staff and students in clinical research.
