SUMMARY:
Senior well experienced Planning manager required for retail head office
POSITION INFO:
Join our super growth retail client as a Planning manager - you will be assisting the Retail division with the planning and will be reporting directly to the Head of Retail Buying. Your function will be a combination of planning for the Retail division as well as being responsible for compiling the retail budgets. (This role is not for a Demand Planner or someone from Supply chain - we will only consider incumbents coming from the Retail division)
This position reports to the Head of Retail Buying
Qualifications:
- Bachelor''s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in inventory planning, operations, retail, consulting and/or finance, with a history of owning/driving results
- Proven experience leading cross-functional projects
- Exceptional problem solving & analytical skills
- Ability to influence and inspire action in others, with or without a direct reporting line
- Proactive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig deep to achieve high level goals
- Experience working with large and complex data sets to drive business decisions
Your responsibilities will include:
- Own the In-stock function including demand planning, ordering and capacity management in line with the retail strategy
- Create and own insights and reporting that provide accurate information on a timely bases on which buying teams can base commercial decisions such and sales, and margin performance
- Create sustainable In-stock systems and processes in partnership with buying managers, central analytics, technical and product teams with continual iteration
- Planning management models and tool to support cross divisional procurement cycles including but not limited to; seasonality, promotion planning, reaction, import purchasing & continual replenishment
- Develop & own the bottom up budgeting plan cycle and reviews in line with performance.
- Margin, stock , availability & departmental strategy objectives
- Own and compile the annual retail sales budget, quarterly plan, working plan as well as on-going reforecasting at category and product levels to ensure budgets are achieved
- Own end to end inventory availability and inventory health by creating structure, developing advanced models and establishing benchmarks driven to improve in-stock rates (availability), inventory planning at category level, systematic forecasting, and promotions and mark down actions.
- Own and collaborate with supply chain to create and iterate on SOP’s that drive continual efficiencies relating to supplier management (orders & returns), warehouse capacity management, inbound planning
- Drive process improvement and operational excellence within our supplier base by reducing costs, defects, and lead times, while increasing innovation, automation, and economies of scale
- Drive complex business analysis that identifies opportunities to improve cost structure and profitability, focusing on continual contribution margin improvements.
- Lead a team of planners; hire, manage and develop a team
- Support the buying team with forecast models, pricing solutions and stock and inventory
Attributes required:
- Strong numerical and analytical aptitude, capable of turning raw data into information and insights
- Team oriented with strong written and oral communication skills, and able to effectively manage multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and meet demanding timelines
- Ability to work independently, strong attention to detail, and a passion for driving process improvement
- Proven track record of managing and executing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering and modelling, problem solving, and communicating recommendations
- Strong proficiency in using analytical tools (Microsoft Excel, SQL and statistical software)
- Entrepreneurial/commercial mindset
