RISK & COMPLIANCE OFFICER

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in legal, risk, or compliance roles (preferably within a law firm or professional services firm)
- In-depth knowledge of South African legal and regulatory frameworks, especially LPA, FICA, POPIA, and related legislation
- Experience with compliance systems and risk management tools
- Certified Compliance Professional (e.g., CPrac(CA), CProf(CA)) or similar
- Admitted attorney (advantageous but not essential)
- Experience in internal auditing or forensic investigations
- Ensure the firm complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards, including:
- Legal Practice Act (LPA)
- Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
- Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
- Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Codes
- Bank SLA compliance
- Maintain and update compliance policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g., LPC, FIC)
- Develop and manage internal compliance audits and respond to external audit requests
- Draft and submit regulatory reports and returns (e.g., FIC reports, compliance certifications)
- Monitor and ensure training of staff
