Rebuild Production Planner (Boksburg)
POSITION INFO:
1. BASIC PURPOSE
To co-ordinate, control and manage the Rebuild WORKSHOP Production planning , Job Costing and Budget Quotes, for the rebuild program. To give related training and to plan production of the Workshop production line, to development these areas to enhance the Business in all areas required for South Africa.
2. ACCOUNTABILITIES
2.1. Quality
To integrate quality into the business by ensuring that every customer contact is a demonstration of absolute dedication towards providing first time ideal solutions for the satisfaction of customer’s immediate and future needs. To implement company standards and procedures at all times.
To assist the Foreman with quality control, by conducting basic over-inspections of machines before it is send the customer and keeping record of all inspections and reports completed for a specific job at all times.
2.2. Production Planning
- Function as the focal point in creating a production schedule for Workshops using the best combination of Visual Manufacturing MRP system, Excel, and Access. The production schedule’s purpose is to provide a means to track and manage daily manufacturing workload, provide feedback to Internal Sales on in-house vs subcontracted manufacturing hours, and provide regular reporting on manufacturing status. The production schedule will provide an in-depth audit on production requirements, manufacturing capacity, schedule, and workforce size.
- Monitors, analyzes, and reports performance to schedule of production activities utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
- Coordinate with project managers, internal sales and production to sequence manufacturing, assembly, and installation.
- Assist the manufacturing department to actively manage the production schedule.Research and assign manufacturing times and due dates on parts as needed and document during the releasing process.
- Coordinate with departments and project managers as needed to identify and resolve issues regarding budget and delivery.
- Monitor quality, service, and delivery issues, and take corrective actions as needed.

2.3. Releasing
- Accurately maintain part-master database in MRP system
- Accurately develop and maintain complex master bills-of-material, and work order bills-of-material (as-build)
- Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues.
- Request drawings and assemble drawing packets complete with work-order router (traveller), completion dates, and instructions for subsequent operations.
- Routine clerical duties to support department activities and equipment. May include supervision of others performing these duties.
- Stay informed of current projects, manufacturing workload, and manufacturing processes.
- Function as the focal point to move towards a more efficient system of entering engineering releases. The goal is continual improvement of the processes being utilized.
2.4. Estimating
It is the responsibility of the planner to quantify the cost of a planned production job and establish a quote to the customer for rebuilds considering the appropriate margin and enough flexibility in the quote to cater for planned and unplanned events
2.5. Resource Planning
To develop models on which to base recommendations to Workshop Manager on resources required in production departments in order to achieve budgeted revenue, productivity and result targets.
2.6. Expediting
Assist the procurement department in following up on orders placed for spares as required by the production process.
2.7. Budget Control
Assist with establishing a feasible budget for all consumables used in the workshop on a regular basis, together with Workshop Manager. Assist the workshop foremen in managing the cost of rebuilds and local modifications on new machines.
2.8. Administration
Assembly reports for every rebuild that is completed must be filled in and filed in a systematic way that improves future referencing. Jobs are opened and closed as and when required. Job costing is done in order to develop a proper database from which to base future quotations. Utilize the company’s computerized management system to record all required information.
2.9. Workshop Safety
Assist the foreman in establishing a safety culture in the workshop. Do safety inspections from time to time as required by management. Follow ISO9001 quality standards.
2.10. Profitability
To ensure the resources are utilized cost effectively in order to add the most possible value with the available resources.
2.11. Security/Safety
Ensure that the security both internally (as in safeguarding of confidential company information) and externally as in the content of customer relationships and components, products is maintained at the highest levels on a daily basis.
Comply with the company’s safety instructions and requirements. Perform safety inspections on a weekly basis, including stock control and shortages.
2.12. Industrial Relations
Ensure that you are aware of the industrial relations procedure and to ensure that the correct disciplinary procedures are followed.
Handle all industrial relation issues that the personnel under your control might have. If it cannot be handled effectively, it must be brought under your supervisor’s attention.
2.13. Policies
Ensure that the Policies are adhered to and implemented at all times.
2.14. Ad Hoc Projects
Assist Management with any ad hoc projects/requests at all times.

4. PERSONAL PROFILE
4.1. Essential Requirements
Minimum of 2 years planning or management within a similar environment
Knowledge of Visual Manufacturing or other MRP/ERP systems
Navision Experience
Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills are required.
Ability to work under pressure
Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest, and thorough. A versatile, self-starter
with a positive attitude, who is cautiously assertive.
Own transport / valid driver’s license
Time management skills
High level of computer literacy (Excel)
