Regional Planner with CCNA, CCNP, RF. Experience in ICT and fixed line technologies.

POSITION INFO:

WE ARE ASSISTING OUR CLIENT IN THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS SECTOR TO FILL A ROLE OF A REGIONAL PLANNER

THIS IS A CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY FOR 24 MONTHS

Responsibilities

The Regional Planner will be directly responsible for the following:

Responsible for the timely planning of all Infrastructure-related networks within the company assigned region e.g. access, aggregation and core networks, including and not limited to Transport planning, IP planning, GIS processing and data analytics thereof.

Manage design guidelines for the relevant Infrastructure solutions.

Medium selection, which entails the selection of the last-mile transport medium in alignment to the company''s standards.

Ensure translation of high level plan to low level design.

Prioritise network growth, revenue generation and projects accordingly.

Drive execution of near term plans.

Forecast capacity and traffic and align with enterprise plans and with strategy and roadmap.

Ensure correct and best practise planning of the enterprise network w.r.t customer requirements and solutions planned or suggested

Evaluate new technology specifications and report such to the company.

Identify geographical locations for equipment to be installed.

Verify configuration, bill of materials and any Infrastructure planning approvals thereof.

Ensure implementation of Infrastructure plans is carried out fully with a smooth handover to Network Operations for cutover and integration into the live network.

Ensure that policies, procedures and quality standards are adhered to in the planning process.

 1.       Key Deliverables

The Regional Planner will be required to deliver the following:

1. Compile and produce a solution, design (low-level) in respect to customer order and company''s requirements.
2. Ensure the quality of planning produced, is at a level suited for rollout and execution with vendors and or suitable for customer review
3. Timely and effective Escalation requiring management intervention or support.
4. The Regional Planner will provide a copy of planning documents to the company''s Regional Planner for storage and audit purposes.
5. Produce (or manage the production of), support the approval of and (where appropriate) maintain the list of deliverables, which include and not limited to high level plans, low level plans, technical solutions and recommendations.
6. Analyse, process & report on the Network Infrastructure, pertaining to the Technology Enterprise Services mandate
7. Approve vendor designs, in-line with the company''s specifications & standards, recommending changes to benefit the company & their customers accordingly

2.       Person

The Regional Planner will have had at least 5 years'' experience in an Infrastructure planning role including the design of ICT solutions.

The Regional Planner will have a Core Degree or National Diploma in an appropriate discipline from a recognised institution and have the required certifications i.e. CCNA, CCNP or equivalent, CECP (advantageous), and relevant certifications and or experience in RF (microwave) and optic-fibre planning i.e. fixed-line planning & design (mandatory).

The Regional Planner will need to be very familiar with ICT and Fixed Line technologies, concepts and terminology including drafting business cases, preparing the solutions, planning & designs accordingly.
