Lift Safety Higher — Inspect, Certify and Protect.
POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a professional Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) to perform inspections, load testing, and certification of lifting equipment in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Driven Machinery Regulations (DMR 18).
You will ensure that all lifting machinery and tackle used by our clients are compliant, safe, and ready for operation. This role involves both field- and workshop-based inspections, detailed reporting, and working closely with clients across multiple industries — including construction, mining, manufacturing, and logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct statutory inspections and proof load tests on cranes, hoists, forklifts, and lifting tackle.
- Verify safety systems, load indicators, and mechanical integrity.
- Compile detailed inspection and test reports with full traceability.
- Ensure compliance with DMR 18, SANS 10375, and OHS Act requirements.
- Maintain the calibration and accuracy of testing equipment.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to clients.
- Promote a safety-first mindset at all times.
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):- National Diploma or Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Registered with ECSA as a Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) in one or more categories.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in lifting equipment inspection, testing, or certification.
- Valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel to clients' sites.
- Strong report writing and computer skills (MS Office, Excel and PDFs).
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and communication skills.
