The Dialysis Practitioner delivers safe, evidence-based, and person-centred dialysis care, placing the patient's goals, preferences, and outcomes at the centre of clinical decision-making. Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, the practitioner promotes effective care coordination, shared decision-making, and patient self-management to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and the overall patient experience.
The Dialysis Practitioner fosters a culture of learning, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement by using quality indicators, clinical evidence, and best practices to enhance patient safety, reduce unwarranted variation, and improve the quality, effectiveness, and coordination of care across the patient journey.
POSITION INFO:
SKILLS PROFILE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Essential Degree in Nursing or BTech in Clinical Technology. Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse\/Midwife or registered with the HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist (Independent Practice). Knowledge of relevant healthcare legislation, including: National Health Act POPIA Health and Safety legislation SANC\/HPCSA ethical rules and scope of practice Preferred 1-2 years' dialysis experience in a haemodialysis and\/or peritoneal dialysis unit. Experience operating dialysis equipment and water treatment systems. Experience in managing chronic kidney disease patients. Experience in patient education and counselling. Experience in quality improvement and risk management principles WORKING CONDITIONS The position is based within a healthcare environment and requires regular interaction with patients, healthcare professionals, visitors, and support services. Working hours are aligned to the operational requirements of the dialysis unit and may vary based on business needs. Occasional flexibility may be required to support operational requirements, month-end processes, audits, training, or special projects.
