JOB SUMMARY:

A global leader in the agricultural distribution chain is seeking a Technical and Development Manager to lead the development of new and existing products and projects in Southern Africa that could result in the successful marketing and sales of these products, by coordinating and implementing the product portfolio, supporting stakeholders with the delivery of technical data on campaigns, introducing new product and business opportunities and actively participating in the design, communication and implementation of technical crop protection offers.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have a B.Sc/M.Sc. degree in Agriculture or related
Minimum 5 years’ experience in crop protection or related field is essential
Proven track record in a research/development environment with experience in practical field execution of trial work will be required
Very good understanding of technical and market aspects of products and associated technologies is important
Proven leadership and teamwork in a multicultural environment will be required
Must have experience in the implementation, management and analysis of field trials and various development projects

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Planning, coordinating, executing and leading crop protection and biological projects through full development and launch activities.
Providing agronomic support, training and coaching to the sales force, key account managers, channel partners and grower customers.
Planning and delivering commercial trials to build deep understanding of company product offers and maximizing the impact of product launches and the overall commercial portfolio on sales and market share.
Participating in GAP definition and solution development through understanding of market evolution and competitor analysis.
Planning, coordinating, executing and reporting the biological field work to deliver agreed projects efficiently and on time.
Providing relevant information created from demonstration trials or other sources.
Providing an effective contribution to optimise the delivery of knowledge and information to the wider technical, marketing and sales community.
Monitoring and providing expert technical assessment of new technologies and competitor solutions.
Reporting and communicating results to all role players.
Keeping abreast of developments and trends in specific fields of expertise.
Developing registration portfolios, compiling biological reports and drafting labels to comply with registration requirements in both languages.
Participating in multidisciplinary technical activities within the organisation.
Liaising with marketing and sales teams, to keep market intimacy and to develop an effective network.
Ensuring biological elements of projects are kept on their critical paths and are delivered on time and efficiently.

Salary package, including benefits, are highly negotiable depending on experience gained
