Release Coordinator

POSITION INFO:

A large enterprsise has an exciting opportunity for a Release Coordinator. The Release Coordinator is responsible for owning the planning and coordination of all phases and activities involved in the release of a system or system update into the production environment.

Job Objectives:

Release Planning

• Facilitates release planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify the proper sequencing of release packages. Ensures that issues and risks are identified, understood, and dealt with in a manner that mitigates risk to scope and schedule.
• Defines and documents the release recommendation for each release and/or change to production. Includes release scope, schedule, deliverables, and roll back plan. Reviews release recommendations with key stakeholders.

Release Management

• Pursues IT and Business compliance with release acceptance criteria.
• Supports release execution by monitoring each phase of the release. Validates the release as it progresses through various release gates and test phases and alerts appropriate stakeholders of any errors or issues that need to be addressed.

Release Standards and Processes

• Manage release management standards to be followed. Educates business and external vendors on the release methodology and strategy.
• Collects feedback from the users of release management standards and identifies the need to modify or retire a standard based on the feedback.
• Integrates the release process with other IT processes including Waterfall/Agile processes. Test Environment Coordination Strictly manages timing and coordination of test runs with competing projects and business stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Diploma/ Degree in Information Systems/ B.Sc Computer Science (or similar) Matric with experience equal to three times the number of years study specified

Experience:

• Experience of working on projects in both Agile and DevOps
• Experience in Retail  
• Experience in release management
• Experience in software lifecycle

Knowledge and Skills:

• Agile/Scrum Tool set, preferably Atlassian
