Background:

• Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited ("WHC") is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences
• WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives

POSITION INFO:
Main purpose of the job:

• To support a community based study assessing body composition
• To assist with data collection for the study, as well as sample and data management

• DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto

• Assist with recruitment, data-collection, and fieldwork
• Project administration
• Data capturing
• Review of participant files for completeness
• Assist with study documentation development and maintenance of study records
• Biological sample managemet and laboratory analysis of stable isotope assessments
• Data management and quality control
• Project reporting
• Manage scheduled and unscheduled participant visits for the study
• Other activities related to the successful completion of the project

• Matric with Research experience
• Driver’s licence and able to drive
• Experience working with stable isotopes

• More than 2 years’ experience in clinical research
• Research experience and/or experience managing research studies or fieldwork
• Experience conducting body composition assessments and working on REDCap
• Computer literacy - competence in REDCap, MS Word and Excel essential

• Experience working in research studies or fieldwork would be an advantage
• Experience with individual and/or group-based training, and/or adult education experience
• Ability to function in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and pay attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a diverse team
• Able to exercise discretion and independent decision making
• Well organised
• Problem solver
• Experience of working with donor-funded projects and in a research or academic environment is an advantage
• Ability to engage with the community in which the study is conducted
