Research Associate (Data Analysis)

POSITION INFO:

Our client is looking for a Research Associate to join a 3-year programme supporting the digitalisation of the Rwandan economy, based on the analysis of big data. The programme will work closely with several ministries and statutory bodies in Rwanda. The team will be based in Rwanda.

The Research Associate will conduct and manage research, engage with our client’s funders, and manage the resourcing (people and other) of a portfolio of research projects, primarily within the data hub. This position requires actively shaping and conducting research, packaging research, and presenting the findings to key stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Research and Analysis:
  • Lead and conduct research and problem solving
  • Structure information and data into a usable format (e.g. drafting documents and presentations etc.)
  • Guide and design new concepts for packaging/presentation of information and researchÂ
  • Quality control and editing of research documents

• Projects and Project Management:
  • Contribute to Project Concept Development
  • Project based partner and funder engagements
  • Research management
  • Project administration and logistics
  • Generating proposals
  • Develop concept and approach
  • Follow project process
  • Provide guidance to team

• Partner, stakeholder and funder engagement:
  • Partner and funder engagement execution

• Operational:
  • Execution of ad-hoc tasks

• People Management:
  • Training, recruiting and coaching of team members

Qualifications and experience required:

• Masters’ Degree in Economics, Data Science, Research, Development or related areasÂ
• 3 - 5 years in a research environment, detailed knowledge of financial services is strongly preferred
• Exposure to Development Economics or International Development is beneficial
• Proven experience in data analysis
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills
• Knowledge of Stata and the analysis of household survey data is advantageous
• A strong interest in research-related activities and a passion for development
• Good writing and presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Advanced English language skills (verbal and written), with additional languages such as French an advantage
• Willingness to travel
• Proficiency in MS Office applications
