SUMMARY:
Our client a leading scientific and technology research organisation has an opportunity available for a Research Centre Manager in Photonics. This position is based in the Pretoria area.

POSITION INFO:
Education and Experience Requirements:

Doctoral degree in science or engineering or any related to Photonics
At least ten years’ experience in the field of Photonics
A track record of working with the Photonics industry
A track record of Photonics product development
General management experience in a complex R&D environment including dimensions of financial management and people management
Deep knowledge and product development experience in at least one Photonics related market segment

KPAs:

Deep awareness of global trends and market opportunities for current and new technologies in the Photonics sector
Establish strategic partnerships with the local and international Photonics industry
Position current technologies/offerings as well as develop relevant future technologies/offerings for the growth and success of industry
Work with business development and commercialisation teams to secure local and international opportunities and industry investment
Enable demographic transformation of the Photonics Centre in line with national objectives
Management of the research centre by being accountable for financial sustainability, operations, performance, compliance to health and safety standards as well as the establishment of quality initiatives where required
