A Research Intern (12 Months Fixed Term Contract) vacancy is available at our Client, Wits Health Consortium's Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (RHI) in Hillbrow, Johannesburg - Gauteng.

Background
The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) is a renowned African-led research institute that seeks solutions to Africa’s health challenges.
It is located within the University of the Witwatersrand and addresses some of the greatest public health concerns affecting our region, including HIV and its related problems, sexual and reproductive health and vaccinology. This is done through pioneering, multi-disciplinary research; responsive technical support and innovation in health services; and evidence-based policy development and advocacy with national, regional and global stakeholders.
Main purpose of the job
- The Research Intern will provide support to quality management processes in the Wits RHI Ward 21 Clinical Research Site (CRS)
Location
- Ward 21 Clinical Research Site, Hillbrow
Key performance areas
- Administrative and technical support
- Project management
- Quality improvement exercises such as baseline assessments and needs analysis
- Participate in the review of systems and tools to support quality improvement goals of the CRS
- Facilitating training to ensure current and new processes are implemented effectively
- Stakeholder engagement to ensure that processes implemented at the CRS are in alignment with the organisation
Required minimum education and training
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
- A self-starter
- Able to work independently
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with a high regard for work ethic, values and integrity
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Display a keen interest in clinical research
- Training in project management or quality improvement software and tools such as Six Sigma, Kaizen etc. would be desirable
Required minimum work experience
- No work experience required (some experience on qualitative research would be an added advantage)
- Wits RHI wants the intern to have gained exposure and experience in the clinical research field as well as provided with the opportunity to determine whether the career field is the right one based on obtaining work experience
