Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience
Named after Nobel Laureate and Wits University graduate, Sydney Brenner, the Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB) is a burgeoning multi-disciplinary research institute dedicated to investigating the molecular and genomic aetiology of diseases among African populations.

Main purpose of the job
- To collect medical data telephonically from participants recruited as part of the ‘ACE-inhibitor Angioedema Biomarkers in Africa’ research study

Key performance areas
- Provide study information and administer informed consent to study participants
- Keep a record of participants’ consent
- Collect medical data telephonically using provided study questionnaire
- Able to capture data into the online platform (REDCap)
- Develop and provide reports as required by the study coordinator
- Work collaboratively with the University of Cape Town (UCT) team who is collecting similar data
- Liaise with the current AWI-Gen team and lead researcher on all aspects of the project
Required minimum education and training
- Research nurse with current registration with the South African Nursing Council
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must have strong organizational and report writing skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with study participants, collaborators, team members support staff, affiliated researchers, community and sponsors
- Experience in telephonic data collection will be an added advantage
Required minimum work experience
- 3-5 Years in a research environment
