RETAIL CREDIT CONTROLLER Location: Midrand, Gauteng Department: Finance Employment Type: Full‑time, Office‑based Reporting to: National Credit Manager Salary: Market‑related (includes Medical Aid & Provident Fund) EE\/AA: Applicable (preference for EE candidates) Introduction A leading organisation in the retail finance sector is seeking an experienced and detail‑driven Retail Credit Controller to manage the full credit control function within the retail accounts receivable department. The ideal candidate is analytical, organised, confident in managing high workloads, and able to perform under pressure in a fast‑paced environment. Key Responsibilities Credit Control & Accounts Receivable Retail Credit Control — Oversee the complete retail credit control function Legislative Compliance — Apply strong knowledge of the National Credit Act and related legislation Reconciliations — Perform accurate reconciliations and resolve account discrepancies Collections — Manage overdue accounts and negotiate payment arrangements Reporting — Prepare credit reports, statements and account updates Administration & Systems Advanced Excel — Use Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP and advanced formulas Documentation — Maintain accurate records, documentation and audit trails Systems Proficiency — Work confidently with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Communication & Relationship Management Customer Liaison — Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams Negotiation — Negotiate amicable and cooperative outcomes Interpersonal Skills — Maintain tactful, courteous and respectful interactions Compliance & Ethics Compliance Standards — Perform duties with integrity and in line with company code of conduct Regulatory Awareness — Stay updated on changes in compliance obligations Minimum Requirements Experience & Knowledge Minimum 5 years’ experience in retail credit control Strong understanding of the National Credit Act Advanced Excel proficiency (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) Skills & Education Matric with Mathematics (essential) Financial tertiary qualification (advantageous) Own transport + valid driver’s licence Strong reconciliation and administrative skills Ability to work independently Deadline‑driven with excellent time‑management Advanced MS Office skills Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills Tech‑savvy and confident with numbers Negotiation skills Analytical, detail‑oriented and thorough Ability to make decisions, take action and resolve issues Personal Attributes Mature, outgoing and personable Well‑groomed and presentable Highly organised with strong attention to detail Positive, energetic and motivated Team‑oriented with strong problem‑solving ability Extras Willingness to go the extra mile to meet month‑end deadlines No travel required Must present a positive corporate image
