SUMMARY:
Our client based Ormonde is looking for a Risk Officer. A Risk / Safety Officer facilitate compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act and guidelines, and provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations whilst on the constant lookout for violations on site. The Risk / Safety Officer is a responsible individual who lives by OSH regulations and focuses on prevention
POSITION INFO:
· SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent occupational SHE training.
· National Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety Management
· Minimum of 5 years in health and safety management (manufacturing industry)
· National Senior Certificate / Matric
· SACPCMP Registration (minimum Registered as a Construction Health Safety Officer) advantageous
· First Aid level 2 Basic Certificate
· Fire Prevention Certificate
· Environmental & Quality qualification an advantage
· Computer literacy, with MS Office (excel intermediate to advanced)
· Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations Experience with AEL and MHI Ideal
· Experience of implementing Health and Safety in a highly technical, complex industrial environment essential
· Exposure to and understanding of implementation of OHSAS 45001 / 14001 and ISO 9001
· Well experienced in Company standards and programs requirements in order to pass on knowledge and requirements to others
Responsibilities
· Align, maintain and manage systems as pertains to the risk/safety business needs
· Running improvement projects as requested by management
· Co-ordinate health and safety committee meetings
· Assist in appointment of safety representatives, first aiders and fire fighters in all departments and review and update the file
· Conduct monthly SHE & Risk Audits and correct all findings in specified period
· Co-ordinate evacuation and fire drill exercises
· Update all health and safety files in the factory
· Compile registers for all safety equipment
· Ensure all policies and procedures are updated complied with
· Arrange periodical medicals and hearing tests
· Investigate and evaluate incidents to determine the root cause
· Control services on site and relevant documentation
· General duties as prescribed by your department head
· Manage security issues
· Manage housekeeping and hygiene issues
· Hold weekly toolbox talks (problem/high risk topic identification, design and implementation)
· Risk induction for new employees and annual risk induction for all employees Supervision and co-ordination of on-site clinic and/or annual medicals
· Develop and conduct risk assessments for all processes and activities within the site Develop safe work procedures to control, mitigate or eliminate identified risks
· Review risk assessments for work equipment and operations
· Ensure all accidents/incidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements are implemented
· Carry out safety inspections, fire drills, and ensure that fire alarms and safety inspections are correctly reported
· Develop, implement and maintain an effective program and ensure compliance to satisfy the requirements of local legislation
· Develop systems to ensure all employees comply with all relevant legal safety requirements
· Always ensure that health and safety is compliant with the occupational health and safety act
· Identify unsafe acts, conditions and hazards, identify root cause and identify corrective and preventative actions and report to management
· Complete all weekly KPI''s
· Maintain and improvement of KPI''s if and when required
· Distribute KPI''s in all departments
· Send updates KPI''s to the Bedding Group on a weekly basis and attend to queries
· Ensure that all KPI''s are completed before KPI meetings
· Ensure that all KPI''s calculations are correct
· Put updated KPI''s on DPS boards and in the KPI room before the weekly meeting
· Send the KPI''s to the Bedding Group accurately and on time
· Compile reports on the status of all projects
· Maintain the standards of all DPS boards through quarterly audits
· Update new forms and new format if required
· Have Weekly DPS meetings with all departments
· Ensure that quarterly audits has been conducted
· All information on boards are up to date
· Have Weekly DPS meetings with all departments
· Complete audits accurately and ensure that DPS standards are maintained
· Manage SHE and Fire risk audits yearly
· Deviations from the SHE and Fire risk audits should be completed within 3 months from the audit
· Compile and submit the following reports
· Health and Safety Risk report
· Update on findings from H&S audits
· Ensure that all information in reports are correct and submitted on time
· Perform any duties given by your manager
· Driving general improvement projects as requested by management
· Assist with disciplinarians’ related to non-conformance
· Ensure full and accurate safety related training records
· Run electricity usage reports daily and send to management
· Ensure that information is correct and sent daily
· Order and control PPE for the site
· Coordinate forklift servicing (and other heavy lifting equipment) license renewals
