We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Administrator a 12-month fixed term contract for Pretoria.

 

Purpose of the role:

The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for SAP solution lifecycle management and for ensuring the performance and reliability of SAP and other enterprise systems.

Purpose of the role:

The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for SAP solution lifecycle management and for ensuring the performance and reliability of SAP and other enterprise systems.

The role will entail administering optimising existing SAP systems, installation and maintenance and planning and implementing technical projects.

 

Minimum educational level:                                                      

• Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science
• SAP Technical certification

 

 

We require the following work experience:

• Minimum of 6 to 10 years of infrastructure experience working with SAP in client environments of similar scope and size
• Minimum of 6 to 10 years IT related experience
• Knowledge of administration and operating SAP NetWeaver, ABAP Java, SAP HANA
• Knowledge of SAP ERP, S/4 HANA is desired
• Knowledge of the mining sector and SAP Cloud solutions would be an advantage
• Experience with Windows (Server) and SQL / MAXDB systems also in a virtual environment
• Any knowledge of SAP ERP, S/4 HANA, BW, BO, PO, GRC, Fiori will prove beneficial
• Knowledge of Network Engineering/Typologies
• Presentation skills
• Consulting / Advisory competencies (recommend, ask, etc.)
• Writing Skills (specification / documentation)

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer the ECC and other systems, including, security maintenance, patches, printing, performance, and transport management
• Perform configuration, change management and testing activities as required for multiple SAP instances (development, test, training, and production)
• Installing, configuring, and optimizing all required SAP database servers and application servers
• Responsible for technical delivery in the areas SAP Basis, Solution Manager, SAP NetWeaver, ABAP Java, SAP HANA, Windows Server and SQL server
• Provide new functions by importing enhancement packages and add-ons
• Monitor the landscape and notify and work with functional and technical teams to resolve issues identified both internally and as reported by users (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space)
• Ability to diagnose and evaluate system failures and determine effectiveness of SAP database systems
• Executing daily operational activities related to the SAP Environment including object transports, setup/configuration, operational SAP monitoring, troubleshooting, error handling, performance/tuning, and problem determination/resolution
• Participate in technical projects to implement and/or enhance SAP systems and applications.  Developing solution and security concepts
• Responsible for developing and maintaining system documentation for all SAP instances and interfaces (includes Technical Design and Application information documents)
• Responsible for knowledge transfer and skill growth to the State staff
