Our Client in Cape Town requires a SAP Basis Engineer III for a permanent role.

Qualifications

Essential:

• Matric with extensive, relevant and demonstrable job related experience in SAP Basis, ERP, BW and applicable business implementation including a full round of SAP implementation and upgrade cycle on Netweaver and databases
• Degree in Information Systems / B.Sc Computer Science / B.Eng (or similar)

Experience

• 5-8 years experience SAP Basis, ERP, BW and applicable business implementation including a full round of SAP implementation and upgrade cycle on Netweaver and databases
• 1-3 years experience in a team leadership role with specific exposure to mentoring a diverse IT delivery team

Responsibilities

• Accountable for enhancing, maintaining and supporting a sound SAP environment
• Delivery of specialised SAP Basis knowledge across the Organisation''s systems landscape. Applying a strategic lens and managing the portfolio as a subject matter expert by providing best-practice expertise
• Analyse and understand business and customer requirements in the context of the current business environment and future opportunities
• Identify and implement suitable solution(s) and alternatives that address the business needs/requirements and exceed customer expectations
• Together with the delivery leads and technical team, ensure successful analysis, design, evaluation, modification, testing, and implementation of SAP across functional areas. Create conceptual, logical and physical solutions, using appropriate gatekeeping techniques and methodologies
• Drive operational improvements and efficiencies through the creation and implementation of rigorous processes and controls, act as a gatekeeper for quality of delivery
• Maintain all principles and quality compliance criteria to deliver according to commitments
• Ensure consistent availability of the SAP System and develop effective downtime solutions
• Timeously respond to and address user and system performance issues and develop proactive/preventative solutions
• Perform System Copy Backs
• Plan and execute SAP system builds including HA and DR
• Plan, test, communicate and execute SAP System upgrades
• Effectively administer ABAP and Java
• Design and administer Fiori as required
• Perform Standby to ensure consistent service response time and delivery
• Detect critical deficiencies and recommend improvements, proactively anticipate potential roadblocks and take corrective action to keep the deliverables on track
• Actively share insights and information with relevant stakeholders - Act as a SAP knowledge resource for functional teams and provide knowledge transfer to team members as necessary
• Understand and stay up to date with current trends in Information Technology and specific current and future technologies - keep the team connected and engaged with the broader IT Team and roadmaps

Knowledge and Skills

• Exposure to SAP Hana, DBA Administration: HANA/DB2 Performance tuning and Sybase, S/4 implementation and UX design
• 1-3 years exposure to agile projects with a particular emphasis on collaboration of multiple, cross-functional teams with specific deliverable streams, including Project / Service delivery Lifecycle Management tools & methodologies experience
• Demonstrable exposure to influencing senior leaders as well as a broad range of stakeholders
• Exposure to and an understanding of Corporate, Retail or Customer interfacing environments in a similar role (non sector specific)
