POSITION INFO:
Highly Challenging and Rewarding Opportunity for a SCM Group Planning & Scheduling Manager, Manufacturing Industry, Durban, KZN (Market-related Package, highly negotiable, commensurate with competency)
Our Client, a well-established and highly prestigious South African Manufacturer in the technical textiles industry is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a seasoned and dynamic Group Planning Manager who can not only lead, but mentor and inspire a team of direct reports, based in their Pinetown, Durban Head Office.
MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE:
- Report into the Group (SCM) Supply Chain Manager
MINIMUM KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum B.Com or BSc (Engineering) which should ideally be complemented with an additional Post-graduate business qualifications such as a MBA/ MBL or other related qualification in Business Administration or Operations Management.
- A Postgraduate qualification will therefore prove to be a distinct advantage.
A Minimum of 5 years’ indepth experience in planning and scheduling in a manufacturing facility is ESSENTIAL.
- Experience and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or World Class Manufacturing concepts will be an added plus.
- Experience with inventory management.
- Experience with JDE preferred.
- Fluency and proficiency in the practical application of MRP logic, scheduling logic, order policies, capacity planning, input/output control, product structures, routings, and standards maintenance.
- Knowledgeable in master scheduling, production planning and detailed scheduling, demand management, purchasing, and cost accounting techniques.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Be extremely organized.
- Possess Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Have exceptional communication and organizational skills required with the ability to work well with all levels of employees and internal departments in a diverse multidisciplinary environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage planning inputs of Sales orders, OEM Forecast & Strategic build plans.
- Maintain consolidated forecast in MRP.
- Use MRP forecast to create master Production Schedule.
- Perform level loading on build plan to allow for resource restrictions.
- Manage MRP order generation for imports.
- Distribute weekly production schedule.
- Participate in daily production planning meeting.
- Identify potential material shortage or overage in advance.
- Identify vendor nonconformance.
- Issue reports on:
- order fulfilment
- production lead time
- product shipment.
- Lead project team to achieve stock turn targets.
- Raw material and finished goods.
- Maintain WIP inventory to support planned demand.
- Assist with correcting BOM deficiencies.
- Propose implement and improve planning methods, tools and reports.
