SUMMARY:
A busy steel trader requires an experienced steel buyer to join their team, the ideal candidate must come from a steel merchanting background and have strong sourcing and negotiating skills.
POSITION INFO:
Qualifications:
- Completed matric or equivalent
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in related field will be an advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in buying within the steel industry.
- Microsoft Office packages especially Excel.
- Syspro and Q-docs are an advantage.
- Math skills to make sure all calculations are correct.
- Negotiation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Placing of mill orders
- Handling internal sales and buying enquiries
- Planning loads with mills and warehouse for collection and delivery
- Purchase order maintenance
- Updating admin spreadsheets
- Follow up with buying team on open purchase orders weekly
- Follow up with sales team on open sales orders weekly
- Sumit mill claims and follow up
- Assisting the Supply Chain Manager with maintaining inventory levels and materials on a regular basis
- Dealing with High Volume customers
