Senior IT Administrator
DURBAN NORTH KZN
Our client is looking for a proactive self-starter who takes initiative and is looking for ways to
improve systems and processes to join their team,
someone who thrives in a small team environment,
contributing to all aspects of IT operations and support.
Must have experience in developing and implementing
IT policies and procedures to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENCE.

POSITION INFO:
Position: Senior IT Administrator
Responsibilities:

Design, install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems.
Monitor network to ensure high availability and optimal performance for all system users.
Oversee and lead the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex hardware and software systems.
Manage and secure user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam systems.
Ensure the integrity and security of the company's data through robust backup and disaster recovery plans.
Coordinate with external vendors and support technicians to resolve critical infrastructure issues.
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive operational documentation, policies, and procedures.
Train and mentor junior IT staff on new technologies and provide advanced support for IT-related issues.
Lead the planning, execution, and management of strategic technology projects within the organization.
Stay ahead of the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT administration.
Travel to remote sites to set up, test, and maintain IT infrastructure as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an IT Administrator or in a similar senior role.
Extensive knowledge of networking, including advanced LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, and VPN.
Code 8 driver's license required, with a willingness to travel to remote sites.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco Certified Network Professional) are highly advantageous.
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in managing and mentoring junior IT staff.
