SUMMARY:
Howick Area – KZN: The successful candidate must have a keen interest in regenerative/biological farming and be a person who is levelheaded, personable and motivated. The following attributes will be considered: logical, analytical, fact-based, planned, detailed and happy to take direction.
POSITION INFO:
It will be the responsibility of the Manager to ensure that the production unit meets all its targets and objectives and to plan and carry out the day-to-day operational aspects of the stock, feed management and housing, with the key objective being to maximize the productivity and profitability of the piggery, without compromising quality or stock welfare
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Agricultural Diploma/Degree
Minimum of 4 years previous piggery experience
Daily management of the piggery enterprise
Breeding stock, AI & conception rate.
Feeding & feed orders.
Animal health & medication.
Keep track of piggery production figures
Record keeping, reports & general admin - essential
Staff management in the piggery.
Computer literate
Farm Health and Safety
Managing composting and worm farm
Be in charge of Organic Certification administration and paperwork
Overseeing of maintenance of the piggery equipment and buildings.
