SUMMARY:
Client in the MINING INDUSTRY requires the services of a Senior Vice President at their operations in the West Rand as soon as possible

POSITION INFO:

The appointee should:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA or CMA).
  • Registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) as a Chartered Accountant (if applicable) or registered with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) as a CMA (if applicable).
  • At least 12 years’ experience in a related position, of which 7 years should have been at a senior management level or experience in a functional/specialist area.
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

  • Business qualification would be advantageous

Key responsibilities:

  • Formulate a strategy and an implementation plan for the Finance discipline in consultation with the Leadership Team.
  • Plan strategically to improve overall business performance and align the Finance strategy with the business strategy, goals and objectives.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative data required to inform a strategic Finance plan.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the Enterprise Wide Risk Management system and processes is in place to mitigate strategic and business risks.
  • Ensure that Management Accounting systems and procedures are in place to provide accurate and timeous management information to the business.
  • Ensure that budgeting system and process is in place meet business requirements.
  • Approve Business Unit budgets in conjunction with Segment management team.
  • Review and approve Capital budgets in conjunction with Segment management team.
  • Oversee the issuance of all Financial information.
  • Report Financial results to the Group Executive.
  • Review Divisional information contained in JSE and SEC filings and reporting.
  • Lead, drive and approve finance projects and initiatives to meet current and future business and regulatory needs.
  • Scan, research and drive implementation of appropriate technology.

  • Support the culture growth programme per segment as it pertains to empowered employees.
  • SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) responsible mining principles, where applicable.
  • SA PGM Operations: Align to Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative, where applicable.
  • Interaction with regulatory bodies, as applicable.
  • Focus on Health and Safety as well as operational excellence
  • Improve our position (internationally and externally) in terms of Safety and Health.
