Trans-Africa Projects (TAP) is a specialist High Voltage Services consulting company which was established in 1995 as a joint venture between Fluor and Eskom.

SHE and Risk Officer

Risk Department

Purpose of the Job: To identify and manage any Risk which could cause loss of health, life, equipment, product, environment or money within Trans-Africa Projects.

 

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s):
• Monitor daily activities in the area of control to ensure SHE (Safety Health and Environment) legal compliance
• Advise and support  SHE implementation in daily activities and ensure sustainability
• Drive SHE campaigns and initiatives
• Ensure implementation and compliance of SHE policies and procedures
• Prepare SHE Files for projects and submit to client for approval • Provide appointed service providers with SHE specifications
• Review and approve contractor SHE files before projects start
• Conduct SHE induction for employees
• Verify that any safety equipment and PPE that is purchased meets the required safety standard
• Ensure all statutory appointments are in place for the area of control as per OHS Act 85 of 1993
• Report and ensure that all SHE incidents are reported and preliminary investigated effectively as per procedure and legislation, documented,  followed up and closed
• Adhere to Business Management System policies, procedures and related requirements of ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001 • Ensure that Safe Work Instructions/Method Statements are in place for all jobs as per the scope of work
• Ensure that Risk Assessments are in place for every job before commencement of any job
• Follow up with the SHEQ CoE Safety Department on Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Disease act 1993 (COID) on behalf of the affected individuals
• Follow up on SDRs raised during the audits and ensure closure • Champion all audits to ensure that adequate representation is provided
• Ensure that the required environmental monitoring is in place
• Directs efforts to maintain ISO accreditation.


Minimum Requirements:
National Diploma in Safety Management and/or Environmental with at least 5 years work experience in a Safety; Occupational Health and Environmental in a Mechanical /Electrical/ Civil Engineering sector.

Other competencies and requirements: The candidate must be - Results orientation with sound feedback and follow-up, goal orientated, a problem solving, team player, creative, stress tolerant and tenacity. The candidate must have knowledge in legal compliance auditing, Health and Safety legislation OHS Act 85 of 1993; Intimate knowledge and understanding of OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and computer proficiency in MS Office suite.

Reporting Level: Managing Director.
